WHICH MODEL TO CHOOSE?

Natursutten is available with either a rounded nipple or an orthodontic nipple. (We recommend you choose the one you like best—and if your baby disagrees, try the other one!)

You also have two shield-styles to choose from: a butterfly shape that fits around your baby’s nose, and our original, circular shape that gently touches the nose, more closely simulating breastfeeding.

What to expect when you receive your pacifier.

When you first open the package, you may notice a “rubbery” smell —that’s perfectly natural. Each pacifier is unique and unlike silicone, our pacifier can display marks and lines in the rubber. Color may also vary by batch. The natural rubber will probably turn whitish after boiling it for 5 minutes—don’t worry, it’ll get back to its original color in a few days. The rubber will get darker over time. (That’s natural.) It’s time to replace it if the nipple sticks together when pressed, or if the pacifier starts to feel sticky overall. Usually around 6 to 8 weeks. With heavy use, the nipple tends to expand. So we recommend using two pacifiers at once and alternating them.

Use and Care Always sterilize your Natursutten before using it the first time: 5 minutes in boiling water. Wash your Natursutten with warm water and mild soap between uses. (Never put it in the dishwasher.) Just like toothbrushes, pacifiers should be replaced every 6 to 8 weeks. Inspect your pacifier every day. If they turn sticky, or start peeling it is time to replace.

Anne-Dorthe Schroeder started Natursutten (which means ‘natural pacifier’ in Danish) in 2006 when she couldn’t find a healthy option for her newborn son. “The media is full of stories about toxic baby gear, recalls, and harmful plastics.
